Job Title: Guardian Ad Litem Attorney

Reports To:  Executive Director

Qualifications:  Applicant must be a licensed attorney in the State of Oklahoma with minimum 2-5 years of experience. Must have at least sixteen (16) hours of domestic violence training.  Experience as a guardian ad litem or in a child welfare or non-profit agency with exposure to clients and professionals is preferred.

Salary: $50,000

Workplace Type: Partial remote based in Edmond, OK

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Guardian Ad Litem Attorney is the primary legal counsel representing children from low-income families on behalf of the Oklahoma Guardian Ad Litem Institute. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

● Meets with all parties and children in each case and performs home visits.
● Reviews all case documents for completeness and accuracy.
● Investigates issues in each case and communicates with collateral witnesses during investigation.
● Collaborates with Project Coordinator throughout case intake and review.
● Advises parties and attorneys of concerns regarding children in case.
● Ensures that reports for the court are timely written and submitted.
● Attends all court hearings.
●Works with families and attorneys to develop and expand outside resources for families with appropriate follow up to ensure services are utilized.
● Undergoes necessary training to assist victims in applying for the Victim’s Compensation Fund.
● Documents time and case activities according to federal grant and institution guidelines.
● Leads OKGALI Continuing Legal Education Committee and facilitates bi-monthly local CLEs
● Serves as a representative of OKGALI to the court, other agencies and the community providing a positive model of OKGALI’s advocacy.
● Performs duties in accordance with OKGALI objectives and in compliance with relevant standards and agency commitments.
● Other duties as assigned.
