Training and Continuing Education

It is vitally important for all court experts, especially guardians ad litem, to be well educated and well trained in effectively represent children and their best interests in the court proceedings regarding the care, custody and control.  One of our goals is to provide that education and training.  In furtherance of that goal, we will provide and facilitate not only the domestic violence training required by State law, but also continuing education and training to keep up to date on all resources available to help with advocacy for children.

Training Videos:

Toxic stress is a chronic activation of a physiologic response to stressors when there is no buffering protection, or support. The ACE studies and subsequent related research quantified the physiological effects of stress and suffering, but spiritual cultures have understood the relation between body and mind for eons and clinicians have observed and documented it for decades. The film Resilience contains a wealth of technical information about child development and how developing bodies and brains respond to stress, and offers steps everyone can take to promote resilience in children.  To learn more about the film itself, please click here.  Click here for upcoming screen showings.

What we do with children and their relationships when they are young really does matter.  We can help shape good relationships by Helping Babies from the Bench.

There are several helpful training videos provided by the Battered Women's Justice Project
